Junior Xavion Grismore lunges forward past the finish line. Wildcat boys track have high hopes as they finish up their regular season.

The boy’s NCWHS track team has had a remarkable start to their season with senior Ethan Snyder stating that they have many state-ranked individuals and relays.

The track team has a lot of depth across all events and classes. The team consists of many talented underclassmen, as well as high-performing upperclassmen.

The middle-distance athletes have also performed at high levels in 4×400 with Kilgore, Swanlund, Snyder, and Filliman leading the team. For the 4×800 they are ranked 4th overall in the 3A conference with Kilgore, Snyder, Swanlund, and Willis running. Zion Russell is currently ranked 3rd in both long jump and triple jump.

The boy’s team recently finished competing at some high-profile meets and high-level competitions. The team has proven to be highly competitive in their events as they go up against some of the best teams in Illinois.

They hope to win the title back after winning in 2021 and 2022 but getting 2nd to NCHS by 3 points last year.

“As we approach championship season, we’re looking to come away with a handful of team titles!” Snyder comments on the team’s success.

“Team goals include winning Intercity and Big 12 Championship meets as well as coming away from the state meet with multiple All-State athletes,” Coach Aubin adds.

Wish the track team luck while they finish their season. Make sure to check the 8to18 website for information about the summer camp!
