Three Wildcat runners will head to Detweiler Park in Peoria, IL for the 2023 IHSA Cross Country State Championship Meet on Saturday, November 4. The three runners are sophomores Hannah Warren, Renee Warren, and Julie Bach. Above, the girls pose with their head coach, Mr. Chad Aubin after qualifying last Saturday at the Sectional meet.

Three girls from the Wildcat cross country team made it to the state meet.

The three Wildcats that are running at the meet are Sophomores, Julie Bach, Amanda Warren, and Renee Warren.

The meet will be on Saturday at 1 PM, held in Peoria at Detweiller park.

Bach has been a stud for the Wildcats all season, and although she has seen plenty of individual success, she is more proud of her teammates and the effort they put in all season.

“Running only 3 is definitely not ideal, as I was hoping that West could qualify as a team. However, the team is still so supportive. Although we will be running as individuals, I still hope to make West’s name known on Saturday,” Bach explained.

Amanda Warren echoes Bach’s team-focus and knows she wouldn’t be where she is without the other Wildcat runners.

“I still receive so much support and encouragement from all team members, especially those who continue practice even when their season [already] ended,” Amanda Warren added.

It is very clear that the even though there are three qualified participants in Saturday’s state meet, Bach and the Warren twins have plenty of support behind them.

“What drove me to get to the State meet was my best friend and running partner, Julie. We have been working hard all summer to prepare for this race, pushing each other to our full potential. Other teammates have also helped encourage me to keep pushing to reach this goal,” Renee Warren noted.

After the meet is over the results will be posted on the IHSA website and at Detweiller Park. Stay tuned to see and update on race results.
