Seven Years.
That is how long Emma Barth has been teaching at Normal West.
Ms. Barth has been involved in the West theatre department for sixteen years. “My involvement in Normal West theatre started when I was a student here! I was in Annie in 2010.” Barth noted
Ms. Barth is the assistant director for the upcoming musical Chicago Teen Addition.
Rehearsal started in the final week of February. “We have been rehearsing multiple days a week since then.” Barth added.
During rehearsal the biggest achievement is, “This cast has great camaraderie and they work together very well as a team.” Barth explained.
The team work within the cast has allowed for great productive flow throughout rehearsal. “They have all been working extremely hard to make this show something awesome.” Barth commented
The cast has been doing extremely well collaborating this year, “this is a very ensemble driven show and they really do a great job of everything!” Barth noted
The overall goal for all the cast is, “I really would just like all of the performers to have a fun time and learn something.” Barth stated.
Chicago Teen addition follows the main character Roxie Hart life, “after she is arrested for the murder of Fred Casely. There are twists and turns as she learns from the Cook County Jail’s resident songbird, Velma Kelly, and her hot shot lawyer, Billy Flynn as Roxie tries to prove her innocence.” Barth stated.
On the night of the show Barth believes the biggest struggle will be, “Pre-show jitters are always something that are a big struggle. The cast does a great job of making those pre-show jitters don’t affect them.” Barth added.
Barth believes the cast will be exceptionally well on opening night, “I am sure that the cast will have a fantastic opening night. Their dancing will surely be a showcase of their abilities.” Barth commented.
Chicago Teen Edition runs through Friday April 24 at 7 pm, Saturday April 25 at 7 pm, and Sunday April 26 at 2 pm.
