The Normal Marching Band looks to defend their 2022 State Championship this Saturday, October 21 at the Illinois High School Association Marching Band Competition at Illinois State University.

This past weekend on October 14, the Normal Marching Band placed second in the Illinois Marching Band Championships: Large Schools.

Normal West students paired with Normal Community students to perform their 2023 show, “The Game.”

This performance earned them a score of 84.650, falling less than 4 points short of what would have been their third consecutive victory of the Illinois Marching Band Championships: Large Schools.

The Normal Marching Band has performed in 4 competitions so far this semester, placing 2nd in three out of those 4.

They head to the Marching Band State Championships at Illinois State University this Saturday, October 21, and are predicted to perform in the preliminary round around 5:20pm.

After the preliminary round, fifteen bands will be chosen from each of the six school-sized classes. These bands will advance to a finals round on Saturday night.

If Normal Marching Band qualifies for these finals, the band’s second performance of the day will fall between 7:56 and 10:44 PM.

To purchase tickets, visit the Hancock Stadium Box Office on Saturday.
