What influenced you to join wrestling?
Um, so in eighth grade, I was thinking about it because I had volleyball. I just wanted to do more sports at first. And then people would tell me, like, I’m really heavy handed, kind of strong. So I was like, oh, maybe I should try wrestling. And then my friend got me to join with her, and I stayed. Okay.
What has been your favorite part of wrestling?
Or, like, favorite parts of wrestling, both on and off the mat? Off the mat, definitely the teammates, like, I never used to really go out that much, and now I have all these teammates that I couldn’t call my friends, we hang out often, even if it’s not wrestling related. And then my favorite thing on the mat is just, all the thinking it requires, like, when I win a match, I feel good about myself, I feel smart, because there’s a lot that goes into wrestling, and being able to know what moves to do at what times makes me feel better.
Do you have any advice for people who might be interested in wrestling?
My advice is anybody can wrestle. This is my 1st year. I didn’t think I was ever going to wrestle. This is my 1st year, and yes, there’s a lot to learn, but if you have the dedication, you can definitely do it.

It’s very empowering and, it teaches you a lot more. It teaches you. beyond just wrestling, like, discipline and like, good sportsmanship and just being a good person in general and like, you know, being able to handle your emotions, like those are lessons that, like, you need all throughout life, not just in a sport.
