Mrs. Wiist is a social studies teacher at Normal West who has been teaching here for 20 years.
This year, she has decided that it will be her last.
“It’s time,” Wiist stated.
“I’ve been teaching for 35 years, so I’m ready to do something different,” Wiist said.
As long as she has been teaching, Wiist shares her exciting memories at Normal West.
“Some of my favorite memories are working with the speech team, taking students to compete in the state speech meet,” Wiist shared.
“Working with the plays, the theatre students, teaching the students I had in AP, Dual, or Regional World Studies, or even English,” Wiist added.
For her future plans, Wiist plans to travel.
She plans to visit her children and spend quality time with her granddaughter.
She enjoys the idea of not being on a set schedule and the freedom from constant work.
Wiist has enjoyed her time at West working with people and has left her mark at Normal West.
Mrs. Wiist’s last day will be at the end of the school year, May 28th.
Be sure to wish her a farewell!
