Following their winning 2023 season, the Bloomington-Normal Boys Varsity Lacrosse team can’t seem to get back in their groove. BN is currently 0-6 on the season, outscored by their opponents 83 to 35.
BN Boys Lacrosse has faced a tough lineup of opponents so far this season, starting with Lemont and Lockport. BN was successful at the goal in 20% of their shots against Lemont and 33% of their shots against Lockport; producing 8 goals in their first two appearances this season.
On March 30, BN stepped on the field stronger, scoring 11 goals on their home field against Dunlap. Junior Ryan Baxter took 6 shots on the Dunlap goal, scoring 5. Baxter is leading the team in goals, producing 9 in the first 6 games. Despite BN’s competitive battle against the Eagles, they couldn’t come back from Dunlap’s 6 goal third quarter, ending the game 11-14.
BN could not hold their next three opponents, Washington, O’Fallon, and H-F, losing all three games. Although the final scores aren’t in BN’s favor, senior goalie Quinn Butler is having a tremendous season defending the net. Butler has 88 saves, keeping BN in games from the backfield.
Senior Ethan Nydegger is also putting on a show for BN this season with 5 goals and 4 assists. Also making impacts on the field are Normal West’s Andrew Bair and Geffen Smith, along with Normal Community’s Thomas Eganhouse, with 6, 5, and 6 goals respectively.
The BN boys lacrosse team takes the field again on Wednesday April 17th at Minooka, looking for their first win.
