Normal West boys swim team competes at state

Normal West has had an outstanding season for its swim teams.

Although the boy’s team placed 4th in sectional with a total 155.5 points and a bronze medal, they will move and take over as the 55th place spot out of all teams in the state, to compete for the State Championship.

Normal West’s individual swimmers did very well during this competition.

Freshman Jonah Berck ended placing 5th in the 1 Meter Diving competition.

Seniors Max Nord and Cole Hamel placed 6th and 9th in the 200 Freestyle swim.

Sophomore Aidan Starkey placed 6th in the Individual Medley.

Freshman Pierson Odland and Senior Isaiah Herbst placed 10th and 13th in 50 Freestyle.

Freshman Cooper Franz placed 3rd in the 100 Fly Swim.

After a great sectional round, Normal West headed into the State Championship rounds on February 23 and February 24.

However, after getting the spot of 55th before the rounds started, the team finished outside the top 100, without receiving a final score.

Although this season ended in disappointment, they will continue to be proud that they reached the state championship rounds, and had a great season.
