The varsity cheer team performed on Saturday, January 27th, qualifying for State and placing 5th out of 11 Co-Ed teams.

“I think at State we put on a really good performance…If that [had been] our last competition, I think we would have been very happy with what we put out there and happy with that being the last time that we competed as a team…” Senior, Maddie Banks states.

The top five teams from each division advance to the State Finals on Friday, February 2 at 6:05 p.m. at the Grossinger Motor Center.

The top 25 teams from each division compete Friday hoping to return on Saturday during the top-ten teams’ competition.

This is West’s second year in a row earning a placement at State, having earned 15th last year.

“ I think if we hit a clean, solid, and executed routine, we can definitely make it to day two. [Regardless], I’m just happy to take the mat with this team no matter what” Banks adds.

On Thursday, West is hosting a “Walk Out” celebration to cheer the team on before they compete at State. Details will be updated for the parade later this week.
