Coaching football for over twenty years, Darren Hess, assistant coach for the Normal West Football team, was recently given the Illinois High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame award.
Being a football coach for several different schools over the past thirty years, Darren Hess decided to settle down at Normal West, because of the authentic culture and the unbreakable bonds he has with the players.
“We put kids first, and it’s not always an emphasis about winning, it’s about being good people and building trust with each other,” stated Hess.
The Illinois High school coaches association Hall of Fame award is given to the coaches who make an impact on players lives.
“I’m very humbled by this recognition,” explained Hess, “hopefully over time I made an impact on Normal West, and the culture, and what our expectations should be.”
With Hess’s positive impact on the Normal West football team, he is right artfully given the Illinois High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The Wildcats are proud to have Coach Hess as a valuable mentor for all students and players here, at Normal West.
