Normal West ‘raises the curtain’ on 2025 Broadway-themed homecoming week

With the theme of Broadway, the 2025 Normal West homecoming week has been a huge success.
Between class dress up days, parades, assemblies, and more, the week has been full of Wildcat spirit.
The Kat-itude Court was made up of Seniors Amelia McClure, Ciera Beyers, and Delilah Bosola. The 2025 homecoming court went to Knasir Heard and Addison McConkey.
The festivities will wrap up at the 2025 homecoming dance, held at ____ from 8-10:30pm.
The 2025 homecoming dress up days were as follows:
Monday-Adam Sandler Day
Tuesday–“Mathlete” vs. Athlete
Wednesday- Jersey Day
Thursday- Rhyme Without Reason Day
Friday-Class Color Day

One of the top tradition of the Normal West Homecoming week is the Wildcat Volleyball game–a chance for male students to show their skills and defend their class’s name.
During the first game of the night, the juniors beat the freshmen, 15-10 in both sets.
Then the seniors beat the sophomores, 15-10–first set, 15-11, second set.
Next, the seniors beat the juniors in a three-set match, 15-13, first set, 5-15, second set, and 15-13 in the third set.
The last game of the night was played first to 21 points, win by two.
In this barn-burner, the staff beat the seniors in a three-set match, losing the first 15-21, then 21-14, and finally winning the third set 15-6.
The Homecoming Parade was held on Wednesday, Sept 10.
The parade had a variety of participants from sports teams to clubs, and had a large turnout with attendees of all ages.
The grand marshall was 2026 retiree, Paula Birsa. Birsa is a long-time school nurse at Normal West.
The freshmen class board organizes the parade each year.

The infamous homecoming powderpuff game is always a fan favorite, and this year was no different.
The competition was very back-and-forth, ending in a 30-30 tie between the junior and senior teams.
The seniors relied heavily on Addyson Hammond, who had two touchdowns on the night.
The juniors had Journey Johnson who also had two touchdowns.
With only 40 seconds left in regulation, the seniors looked to be on their to taking a win; however the juniors marched down the field, scoring with no time left on the clock. A missed field goal left the 2025 homecoming game tied.
