Coming off another huge regional championship win against, the 30-3 Wildcats look towards their sectional matchup next Tuesday, November 5 against crosstown rival, Normal Community High School.
The lady Cats lost to NCHS during the Intercity tournament earlier this season, but got their redemption against the Ironmen during a regular season matchup.
“I think we’re pretty confident. I know it’s gonna be a good game, so I think everybody is pretty excited…we’re going in with our head high,” senior libero Shelby Sennett, who came away with 7 digs in the regional championship match, said.
On Thursday, October 31, the Wildcats won their 4th-straight Regional Championship in a close 2 sets against a good Moline team, winning 25-20, and 25-16.
The team was led by St. Louis University commit, senior Ellie Rink, who recorded 7 kills, 2 aces, and 7 digs in the game.
They move onto sectionals Tuesday against NCHS, where they look to continue their positive momentum.
“I think we’re excited to get any wins, and postseason wins are good, so it’s always exciting to take that next step. We’re excited about getting to play (Normal) Community at our home court. That’ll be a really fun matchup they are a tough team…but we definitely feel ready for the challenge,” coach Kelsey Mueller said.
Game time is at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5 at Normal West.
