Last week in Minooka, both the girls and boys cross country teams qualified for sectionals.
The boys team placed 5th, led by stud-runner, senior Zeke Rice, with senior Aiden Swanlund helping the team prevail.
Although excited about their regional performances, the boys are not done yet.
They recognize that the relentless practices and work they’ve been doing is paying off.
“The guys are excited; we’re feeling freaky and were ready to go compete,” Rice admits.
The girls team also finished strong in Minooka, placing 3rd. They were led by Junior runners Amanda Warren, Julie Bach, and Renee Warren.
The 2024 Sectionals will be at a very familiar course for the Warrens and Bach as this is the 6th year of practicing and racing at Maxwell Park.
And in their junior season, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
“We’re feeling ready and excited to get to sectionals,” Amanda Warren notes.
Both teams will take off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 2 at Maxwell Park.
“We’re feeling really good; we’re going to show up when it matters. Amanda and Renee and Julie are going to make a strong push to qualify for the state meet as well as Zeke for the boys,” Head coach, Chad Aubin says.
