After a long winter break, Normal West Boys Wrestling was back on the road for a matchup in Champaign.
The Wildcats faced both Champaign Centennial and Oakwood in their Jan. 10 match. They dominated Centennial, ending in a 60-24 score.
However, despite their efforts, the Wildcats fell short to a tough Oakwood team, losing the match 22-43.
“Ultimately, we didn’t really know what to expect going in, we came out strong against Centennial but we overlooked Oakwood a bit,” Head coach Dave Lehr shared.
The upperclassmen have shown great strengths throughout the season and did not disappoint in Wednesday’s match. Matt Hanold, Gus Schrieber, Abe Rader, and Dylan McGrew are all having noteworthy seasons.
Evan Willock went undefeated for the night, continuing his prominent senior season.
“A lot of strengths were shown throughout the matches, but as always, there is more work to be done,” Senior Matt Hanold reported.
The Junior Varsity CoEd team will travel to Peoria on Saturday, Jan. 13 for their next match.
The Varsity team is working hard, looking forward to their next competition in Danville on Jan 20.
