The Lady Wildcats fall to 1-6 after losing by one point to Pontiac last night (11/30) with a score of 67-66.
West has dropped the last five in a row, and is really struggling to find footing in this season so far.
Overall, the game was really close. West jumped out to a 17-12 lead after the first quarter and led into halftime with a score of 31-27, even though they were outscored by Pontiac in the second quarter, 15-14.
The second half is where it all went downhill for the Wildcats defense. Pontiac pounced on the Wildcats, scoring a combined 50 points through the 3rd and 4th quarter to edge out a narrow victory.
Senior Bailey Masching went bonkers for the Indians, scoring 31 points through three quarters.
Normal West’s stud freshman Avery Dodge had 15 of the Wildcat’s 66 points.
Foul trouble was also an issue for the Wildcats throughout the game, and it was one of the reasons why they struggled to stop Masching: “Four of our starters fouled out,” Avery Dodge quoted after the loss. “24 [Masching] had some good moves, and drew some fouls,” she noted.
The Wildcats look to right the ship as they head to Peoria High School on Saturday, December 2 at 1 pm.
