West Boys Basketball off to good start

The Normal West boys basketball team started off their season at the Intercity tournament last week. They won 3 out of the 4 games they played.

The first game of Intercity was on November 26th at the IWU Shirk Center. West played Uhigh and won 48-44. On November 28th  West beat Central Catholic 47-45. The third game was against Bloomington on November 29th which was a victory for West, 58-55.

The first three games were close. West played as a team and made it very exciting for fans to watch and cheer. Amber Helton (12)said, “I was so proud to be cheering in student section and be apart of West. It was so awesome to watch these boys work so hard for what they love.”

The last game was played against Normal Community for the Intercity Championship. West lost 47-27. It was disappointing losing to such a big rival but the players played their hearts out until the final buzzer.

Overall, West was second in Intercity this year and hoping to win next year. A quote from Austin Zobrist, one of the only two seniors, said, “I was actually happy with the results from Intercity. I was really bummed when I got the flu and couldn’t play the last two games, especially against Community. I am proud to be on this team  and play with these boys.”

The varsity boys latest game was at home against Champaign Central. West played yet another close game but unfortunately lost 52-49 in double overtime.

The next game is away against Danville on Friday December 12th at 7:30!
