Each homecoming week, Normal West High School honors a select group of alumni or former staff into their Wall of Fame.

This year, a committee headed by West alum and current staff member, John Bierbaum, inducted four new members into the exclusive club.

The first inductee is former Wildcat social studies teacher and department chair, Tracy Freeman. Freeman was one of the original Wildcat staff members, joining the school community in 1995. She retired in the Spring of 2022.

The second inductee is former Wildcat science teacher and department chair, Lisa Tomlin. Along with Freeman, Tomlin was a member of the “original” staff. She retired in the spring of 2023.

The third inductee was another former Wildcat teacher, Ms. April Schermann. Schermann wrapped up a storied 23-year career as an educator and softball coach at Normal West last school year. She now resides in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The final inductee is Wildcat alum, Julie Edmunds-Mendez. Edmunds-Mendez graduated from Normal West as valedictorian in 1997. She currently works as Department of Defense National Security Attorney.
