Although many businesses, like Toys R Us and Sears, have been shut down in Bloomington-Normal, there is one thing that still rings true: the twin cities are always trying to add new things.
Founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, by Todd Graves and Craig Silvey, Raising Canes currently operates approximately 750 locations across 42 states.
Crews are currently working on getting Raising Canes into business sometime in late 2025.
College Hills is a common place to find shops and places to hang out, and now, it will be the home to Raising Canes.
College Hills consists of small clothing stores and has two big stores, Target and Von Maur.
Now that Raising Canes is moving into the College Hills area, it gives the shoppers a new place to eat.
The Bloomington student community is excited to see Raising Canes open and serve our community.
Other restaurants like ‘Canes’ that are a part of the Bloomington-normal area including Texas Roadhouse, Five Guys, Portillos, Oberweis and Jersey Mikes.
The word around town is that Raising Canes is the best chicken on the market, and everyone is excited that the chicken franchise is coming to Bloomington.
Raisin Canes’ story of how it has come to Bloomington is a bit controversial.
Unfortunately, the Beauty Brands, the store that was previously in the location Raising Canes will be, had to close to make room for the new business.
Although patrons of Beauty Brands are disappointed about Raising Cane’s arrival, there are many people in the area who are very excited.
With Raising Canes coming into town, it gives everyone an additional choice of where people want to eat out.
ISU students also had some thoughts about Raising Canes.
“I’m excited but it’s going to be busy for a while. I’m happy that there’s gonna be a new restaurant here,” Hailey Zito, an ISU student noted.
“A con would be that it’s always gonna be packed and will cause more traffic than there already is. But overall, I think it’s a good thing”- Kelly Anderson, another ISU student added.
West students have also shared their excitement, not only for the food but also for the employment opportunities.
“I hope I get a job,” Julian Rodriguez, a Junior at West said.
Although many students are anxious about more traffic, Raising Canes will make a great addition to Bloomington and will add more excitement to our community.
