They started going out in the summer of 1996 and have been together ever since. Mrs. Hafermann was a junior in high school and Coach Hafermann was a senior in high school.

They went to Black Hawk Community College and both transferred to ISU.

Mrs. Hafermann is the IMC Media Specialist here at West and fulfills many duties.

Mr. Hafermann is a tech coach here at West, Evans, and Parkside. He is also the varsity basketball coach. They have been at West for about 20 years.

Coach Hafermann “admires Tera’s passion for making the library the best that it can be for her students.”

Most of the student body would agree with Coach Hafermann about how the library is a comforting place for students to come to study, read, and utilize IMC resources.

Mrs. Hafermann loves that “Ed is able to work with all kinds of people; they’re comfortable in working with him.”

They have three kids together. All of their kids are academically and athletically inclined.

Eden is a freshman who plays volleyball and softball. Taylor is a senior who plays basketball and baseball. Christian is in middle school and plays baseball and basketball like his older brother.

Mrs. Hafermann focuses on the academics of the three kids. Coach Hafermann focuses on the athletic side and how to balance being a student and an athlete.

The Hafermanns share an office space together in the back of the IMC. They keep things very professional and very rarely discuss personal matters.

Ms. Nichols is around them the most and says working with them is “great!”

They often teach the same classes but at different times. Their work overlaps when discussing online resources for students.

Overall the Hafermanns are a staple at our school and are appreciated.
